General
Requirements:
-
Applicant must
be an enrolled Democrat.

Applicant must
be resident of Brockton.
-
Applicant must
be a member* of The Brockton Democratic City Committee, a
relative** of a BDCC member* or sponsored by a BDCC member*
-
Applicant must
be accepted at or enrolled in a program designed to an Associates
Degree or higher.

Applicant must
submit a completed application packet with all required supporting
documentation postmarked by the application deadline of August 10,
2007.
Selection
Criteria:
-
A point system
will be used to score applicants in the following areas: merit,
financial need (after school award package), level of
participation in promoting Democratic ideals and essay/personal
statement.

When possible
one scholarship each will be awarded to the highest scoring male
and highest scoring female applicant.

All
identifying information will be removed from application materials
prior to their review by Scholarship Committee.

All
application information will remain strictly confidential.
Awards:
-
Scholarships
are monetary awards payable by check to winner(s).
-
Payment of
award will be made following presentation of the academic
institution’s bill to Scholarship Committee Chair and will be
presented at annual Jean Sullivan Memorial Breakfast in September.

The amount of
each award and number of scholarships may vary from year to year
based on available funds and number of applicants.
*Members,
relatives, or sponsors must be active in the Committee for at least
one year.
**Relatives are:
parents, grandparents and legal guardians. |
